Gerard, whose party-trick involves headbutting walls, is loud and brash, and a little slow. He gets left behind by politics, but occasionally is capable of putting two and two together. He may even make four. He is constant to Amber, and is known to punish wrong-doing with a wrestling match.
For all his great strength, Gerard has a soft heart, and is often wounded through it. He is occasionally surrounded by waifs and strays he has picked up, and can be relied on, at a pinch, to save the life, if not the skin, of an family member not proven to be involved in treachery. Gerard and his son Brion are most often found in shadow seas, trading or just sailing for the hell of it.
