Enhancing your armor generally entails investing lots of nuyen into your newly acquired suit. Enhancements can be of a wide variety, but come in two standard types. Both are explained below. Enhancements can include adding weapons to your armor, but generally just encompasses adding technical gizmos, such as sensors, BattleTech, Communications equipment, integrated computers, and even Dermal Plating (yes....ontop of all that armor).
Slot-Upgrades: A slot upgrade is a modification to the Power Armor that utilizes Utility Slots of the armor. This basically means that the armor was designed for the weight of the enhancement and also the power demand of the enhancement. For example, a character wishes to put a tactical computer in his armor. The computer required 1 Slot. It takes up that slot and is now considered part of the armor......nothing more needs to be done with it.
Suit-Upgrades: Suit upgrades are simply upgrades that do not require utility slots. For instance, the same character from above decides that he wants the tactical computer, but that he doesn't want it taking up a Utility Slot. The Computer can be mounted someplace on the armor and have it's own power source, but now the weight factor of the component is added to the frames overall capacity.
Optional: For the sake of the game, I have added this option. Let's say a character wishes to mount something on his armor, like the tactical computer, but he wants it to be powered by the armor, but not interact with the armors sensors etc.... A GM may opt to let the character hardwire a power source into the armor for a 1/2 Utility Cost and 1/2 Weight Factor. That bonus should have some restrictions that the GM comes up with.
