Securing Your Power Armor

After you've spent tens of thousands of nuyen on building this power armor, you'd hate for someone else to just come along and put it on and walk away with it. This section is designed for personalizing your Power Armor with security features. Various corporations utilize specific security precautions to keep the armor within their possession, not that their security people would wander off with it.

Corporate Security Methods:

These are recommended features for Corporate Security Suits. Lone Star and other military units may also have integrated some or all of these into their suits. The primary reason for adding these features is to prevent theft of the expensive armor by employees and intruders alike. These procedures, in some cases, also prevent corporate assets from being attacked by the armor.

Since the initial design of that suit, many corporations have enhanced the designs and modified the suits even further. Security of the suits became a major factor, so the designers began to incorporate various security protocols within the suits. Some of these protocols include.

Computer Overrides: The suits would operate normally, but all systems, including movement could be terminated via communication link to the suit from a remote sight. This protocol is usually implemented in large structures or compounds where there are restricted areas set up. If the guard does not have access to be in that area, his suit would begin shut down protocols, and alert the central security that it has breached security. This prevents suits from being used against the owners.

Area Controllers: These are similar to "invisible fences" for animals. The suit will only work within a certain area, such as a building or compound. Once the suit leaves that area "shut-down" procedures initiate, preventing someone from wandering off with the suit. (Some corps have even gone so far as to install self-destruct protocols into the suits). This device also works in reverse.

Kink Bombs: Not unlike the kink bombs designed for cyberware. These are installed in key areas of the armor and can be detonated in various ways. The primary purpose is to disable or destroy the armor. The key area for Kink Bombs is in or around power supplies, or inside the helmet or chestplate. The bombs are generally placed in areas of the suit that will cause the most damage to the wearer, and the least to the suit.

BioIndicators: These are built into several areas of the suit that will expose areas of the wearers skin. The suit will not function if the wrong person is in the suit. These are generally only installed in military suits or in special team suits of certain security departments. Portable access cards are available for suits, so if a suit is used by four people in a week, they would just have to insert their BioSecure Card into the suit. That card also logs who the wearer of the suit is and the basic tour of duty for the suit.

Power Supplies: Some corporations that utilize armor suits routinely, create specific battery packs that require a special recharging unit (usually a unit that the entire suit must plug in with security jacks). Although this doesn't prevent the theft of the armor, it does prevent the armor from being used after the initial charge has been expended. Another power supply security feature is making the suit completely dependent on an "external" power source, such as GridLink™ or a hardwire. Once the suit is off the grounds, or has been unplugged, it ceases to operate.
