Review of "Space, Time and the Incurable Romantic"

I was ecstatic to receive this story.  This is my reaction.  (9k)

I Am Become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds.

Vignette - August 1998.
An exploration into Morden's mind just before he was executed on Centauri Prime.  Note: This extrapolates heavily from the novel "The Shadow Within".  (13k)

She Couldn't Stay - Part 1 of the Susan Ivanova Cycle

Vignette - July 1998.
After the tragedy, Susan Ivanova had no choice but to leave Babylon 5, no matter how much it hurt.  (10k)

In Places Where Death Alone Treads - Part 2 of the Susan Ivanova Cycle>

Drama - October 1998
Susan cannot escape her death wish any more than she can escape the nightmares.  Something must change, and change comes in the most surprising of forms. (35k)

Sunrise

Very short vignette - 9.9.1999 - the day I first saw Sleeping in Light.
An interior monologue of Delenn's as she faces life without her soulmate.  (5k)

Sunrise 2: Face the Morning

Vignette - 1 October 1999.
Set a short time after Sheridan's death, this is an interior monologue of Susan's as she reflects on her life and the recent changes.  (8k)

Sunrise 3: Hope to Love

Short Story - 3 October 1999.
This is a little different from the first two "Sunrise" peices in the regard that it actually has a plot.  Again told from Ivanova's point of view, we learn some of David Sheridan's secrets and the new relationship in his life....   (10k)
I don't think anyone else has written a story quite like this one, so if you've seen one, tell me!

Twenty Years

Vignette - March 1997.

...and everything must eventually end...  (14k)  Note: This story is now AU.

 Essay - Missing Babylon 5

Written February 2001.  Also includes a Tribute written in 1999.  (10k)

Notes:  Babylon 5 is the most amazing saga I've ever seen played out.  So why haven't I written more stories set in this universe?  There are two simple answers:

1)  B5 is perfect enough already.  Much of my fanfic is written to 'fix' things I didn't like (eg characters not falling in love, a character dying) and I write to give them a happy life.  (On that note, expect to see many post SiL stories very soon.)

2) A little thing called alternate universe.  As the B5 universe is constantly changing, any story I wrote during its run would soon have become outdated.  And really, who wants to read a life-or-death story set in the first season where you know they have to survive?  (I cite X-Files stories as a prime example of out-dated-ness.)  When one reads an old story, there's always the knowledge that it will (a) turn out okay, or (b) warp into an alternate universe that doesn't mean a thing.  I adore sticking to canon and that's what I try to do.  These stories make the most impact because they could happen.

With a cancelled program such as "Earth 2", I can basically write whatever I like and it's all in the realm of possibility because we never saw what happened next.  With B5, we have seen the eventual fate of all the characters and "Twenty Years" has become obselete.  But that's okay, it was something I needed to write at the time.

In conclusion, most of the B5 stories you see here will be vignettes examining characters, stories set after Sleeping in Light (or during those mysterious intervening years) and my own personal Susan-Marcus series (which I am running wild with!)  Oh, and a crossover with another favorite genre of mine. Enjoy.
