Nic's X-Files Movie Review - A
'Shipper's point of view.
(Warning, mindless obsessing and screaming
follows...this was written as soon as I got home at 3am from the midnight
premiere of the movie!)
Ready? Okay, here we go!
(Even this picture makes me melt.)
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! (I learnt
to scream like that from JetC10.) Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
That would have to be the 'Shippiest
movie I've ever seen!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! She pursued Him!!!
She kissed Him on the forehead first and it was like this whole
big love scene and they were like this: - far apart (closer than J&D
in their near kiss) when they were interrupted by that damn bee!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
And after that came the shocking, surprising
and so (still) romantic part of the movie. Scully was dying, Mulder
was shot 'dead'. And he went, literally , to the ends of the earth
to find her. It was a very sci-fi-ish movie - a huge, alien spaceship,
evil aliens (think "Aliens") and Scully being turned into one as she was
trapped in the goo.
Everything Mulder did for the last
third of the movie was to save her. He didn't care about truth, he
didn't care about evidence, he cared about Scully. Ahhhh....
Holding her, carrying her, seeing her naked
(!), giving her mouth-to-mouth in a scene so reminiscent of Voyager's "Coda".
They had a wonderful, light banter/theme going throughout the whole film
and it was so tender when she woke up (despite the aliens bursting out
around them....)
And then the great ice-sheet collapsing -
my jaw dropped when they went down too and I was thinking, "Uh oh, what
now? How the hell-" when they were carried up by a huge, ID4-ish
(haha) type spacecraft.
They lay in the snow, Mulder watching.
And then Scully began to hug Mulder, desperately, her face in his hair
and I swear, she kissed him and then the cameral pulled away and they were
kissing, I just know it! (Or so I tell myself....)
There was a nice hand-hold at the end and
they almost walked off hand-in-hand but she took his arm instead
after a few steps. It's so nice to see this role reversal.
Scully being affectionate (guess she's still worried about Agent
Cowley) and not the other way around. Eeeee!
This movie, once it got going, was a 'Shipper's
paradise (except for the aborted kiss, and I swear, the entire movie
theatre groaned when that happened! Everyone there wanted to see
them finally kiss!) Forget the sometimes boring plot and concentrate
on Mulder and Scully and the Relationship.
(When Scully quit the FBI, it was like a
series of scenes straight out of fanfic! She leaves, Mulder gets
completely drunk, Mulder goes to her apartment.... LOL! However,
most of the fanfics like that end in a declaration of love and/or sex.
Such a pity the movie was different. *G*
