Earth: Final Conflict: 'Volunteers'

Liam and an implanted human attempt to find out just who the volunteers are, and what purpose they serve for the Taelons.

Since the start of this season, I've been wondering who all the people wandering about the mothership are. I'm sure they weren't about before. Well, apparently these are volunteers who wish to aid the Taelons without actually being implanted with a CVI. However, with members going missing, Liam sets off with a former volunteer to find out what is going on.

Earth: Final Conflict does Starship Troopers in this tale about young kids being trained to fight and kill, ostensibly in a war against the Jaridians. This is a glimpse into another of Da'an's projects, which has been corrupted by Zo'or, originally set up to help teenagers off the streets and give them something more constructive to do. Now they're being used as cannon fodder on another world against an unnamed Taelon enemy.

This is quite a clever twist in the tale, and makes up for Liam and Amanda doing a lot of running around between various portal gates, which are all conveniently empty, active, and unmanned. Once again there's little material to get your teeth into here, with the only interesting plot point being when Da'an warns Sandoval that he knows the agent is not the same person he was, and to be careful in case any other Taelon finds out. Hopefully, this will lead to other developments later in the season.
