A Taelon shuttle crashes on Earth containing Lili and a Jaridian, and both Sandoval and Liam are keen to find the arrivals.
The return of Lili, a Jaridian arriving on Earth, Sandoval’s actions entering a new phase; this should have been an exciting season finale. However, it’s missing something, and that something is pacing. Far too much time is spent wandering about an Arctic wasteland and setting up a big auction when the Lili storyline could have continued apace. Far too much of the episode seems like padding; the Russian who has Lili and the Jaridian isn’t much of a character and serves little function in the story. Renee’s utilization of her sexual skills to get what she wants is becoming tired, and the Russian falls for it easily.
There are also too many unexplained points: Sandoval doesn’t ask why Liam is at the auction, nor does he wonder what he’s doing trying to find Lili. Surely Liam’s actions at the end of this episode prove he’s a member of the Resistance? It’s also odd that Liam gets a skrill blast that seems to do him no harm. Things keep happening for little reason, and there’s a lot of plodding about trying to find Lili before a convenient message allows her to be discovered. And when she is found, she’s carrying a Jaridian/Human hybrid. How is this going to help exactly? It’s not as if one Jaridian can recreate the entire race. How can Lili’s physiology be changed at the drop of a hat? Why must Da’an die so she can live? Can’t just a bit of his energy be drained?
The whole thing is apparently devoid of proper thought and where there should be action, there’s too much talk. Renee and Liam’s latest Mission: Impossible plan is ill-conceived, as they should be taken out easily by Sandoval’s men, and there’s no reason Sandoval has to run away either. Too much set-up and no pay-off leaves hope for an exciting season four opener, but that’s about it. Somewhere along the line, the season has taken a wrong turn.
