Xev and Kai have an altercation in a moth leaving Kai meeting a group of alien hunters and Xev in the middle of Texas with a group of randy men. Meanwhile, Stan is rather upset to find Prince has popped by the LEXX to say hi...
Splitting the cast seems to really help the show, giving several simultaneous plots and keeping viewer interest better than if we just had to follow all of them round. Starting at the beginning, there's a wonderful scene with Prince as he makes two shuttle pilots go outside the craft, only to head off to the LEXX without them, even bouncing one hilariously off the side of the ship as he leaves. It's perfect Prince and works because, as he says, "I'm evil." We still aren't sure if he's last season's Prince at first, a fact nicely played on by the writers as Stan tries to determine who he's dealing with. Of course, quite quickly Prince shows his true colours, and with some help from the Stan-hating 790, he quickly has the upper hand in another fun scene that could only happen in LEXX.
Kai's encounter with the alien hunters seeking a way off the planet is suitable odd, helped by the reappearance of Walter Borden, formerly His Shadow, as a wheelchair-bound doctor. Can we judge the characters because of who they were? We'll have to wait and see.
Meanwhile, Xev's encounter in a Texan trailer park allows her to do what she does best: seduce everyone. Xenia Seeberg is wonderfully sexy here, and is also given a chance to use her fine singing voice. The setting allows the writers to have another crack at the trailer trash lifestyle and kind of person as we see a group of hicks, one of whom decides to marry Xev, only to discover she's not that kind of girl. The shoot-out is funny and ridiculous and works wonderfully in taking the piss out of Texans. The question is: will they mind? And bearing in mind that anyone could be next in this season, maybe we should all start to worry...
