Xev is jailed for the apparent murder of the Texans, Stan finds himself at the mercy of Prince alongside a young boy named Digby and Kai makes some unusual discoveries...
Now we're really getting somewhere. There's some really wonderful stuff in this story in each segment. Taking them one at a time again, then, firstly there's Xev. Locked in a Texas prison, she finds herself at the mercy of the warden, his wife and their seriously screwed up daughter. The fact that the warden and wife are played by Red Dwarf's Craig Charles and Hattie Hayridge respectively is just the icing on the cake, although it does take some time to get used to Hayridge's truly appalling (intentionally?) Texan accent. Charles has got off scott free, but has some great moments, specifically his dictating of a letter for the women to send out along with their panties to a bunch of perverts so he can make some cash. Their daughter (a returning actress again) is creepily predatory, and her behind the scenes work is wonderfully fun.
Stan's encounter with Prince answers some questions and provides a host of new ones as the LEXX key moves people once again yet won't accept Prince. Is he alive or dead and can he be killed? We're still not sure by the end. And then there's Digby. Ostensibly a sweet kid, his psychotic killing spree in Prince's base tells another story. But who is he? Have we met him before and if so, where? Or is he just a screwed up kid?
Speaking of answers, Kai discovers links back to the Dark Zone in Earth art and it seems the Divine Order may somehow be active here. Connecting to some of the earliest LEXX episodes, there's a feeling of a huge secret waiting for us at the end of the series and some serious planning going on behind the scenes since the start. And then there's the first proper glimpse of what's arrived on Earth: some weird alien creature that enters people and takes them apart from the inside. All this and the people who've appeared before are the ones who survive. But why? It's certainly fascinating to watch and I can't wait to see what they do next. All this and the hilarious end scene where the twisted 790 plays with Stan's life. Priceless.
