As Emma decides whether or not to let the Group into her life, Frank learns some of what has been going on behind the scenes, and attempts to stop a serial killer from claiming any more victims.
This is the last episode of Millennium unless it gets some kind of reprieve, and it does come to a sort of conclusion. What makes this episode so intriguing/frustrating depending on your perspective is that the answers don't come easily. This is thinking person's television, with most of the things said about the Millennium Group only insinuated.
If anything, the serial killer plot is important but maybe should have been wrapped up in the previous episode as this one would have been better dealing purely with the Group and the various main character's decisions. Frank's meeting with Watts is well-played, making some important and surprising points, and the way Emma is backed into a corner is nicely executed.
In the end it appears that the killers the Group brings in have all been experimented on, and Frank and Jordan may have been as well. The final scene of Frank heading off into the sunset is apt for his character, who seems unable to find peace anywhere. We can only hope we run into Frank again at some point, as there's clearly more to explore here, but for now this is sadly where it ends.
It's always a shame to see a good show bite the dust, but even more so for a show with real potential. Millennium never quite became what anyone thought it would be, but it certainly made you think, and what more can you ask for in drama? And after all, there are still 223 days remaining...
