First Wave: 'Crazy Eddie'

The aliens try to retrieve a stolen sphere Cade has obtained that contains the mind of one of their leaders.

This is almost like a pilot, part 2, explaining Cade's role in the series a little better (and setting up his method for finding the aliens through prophecies), and introduces other regular cast member Rob LaBelle as Crazy Eddie, a paranoid computer freak who provides assistance. And again, it's not bad.

There's a lot to set up, and this one (although overplaying the naked bodies a little) shows the cloned bodies the aliens are using, introduces a leader, and shows how they inhabit human form. I do like the way they're going to be easy to find too. "I'd suspect you of being an alien if you weren't so dog-ugly," I'm sure we'll hear Cade say eventually.

The one thing that's a little unbelievable is that Eddie, set up as the biggest conspiracy geek on the planet, refuses to believe what Cade is telling him until he's seen an alien with their arm lopped off for the first time. Cool dissolving effect when aliens die, too. Very War of the Worlds. With this episode more setting up (including the first appearance of alien leader Joshua), there's not a huge amount of plot, but it does hold together nicely.
