First Wave: 'Mata Hari'

Cade visits a university to find out what or who is causing the deaths of several scientists.

With Cade a hunted man after being framed for the murder of his wife, you'd think it's a bit stupid of him to make himself so public, but obviously a fake ID can cover a multitude of sins. This episode shows a good relationship developing between Cade and Eddie, with the crazy one acting as a "pocket PHd" for Foster via an ear-piece.

It's not a bad storyline either. Lara, a woman who acts as a mercenary with mind-reading powers, is working for the aliens to transform our satellites into weapons. Meanwhile, Cade is offered a deal by a mysterious agent named Colonel Drake that if he hands Lara over to her, his record will be expunged. Naturally Cade obliges, but his record remains, casting doubts as to who the Colonel works for, and the exact nature of her relationship with Lara remains unexplained. It's just a shame Drake isn't the most exciting of individuals, as it seems she may crop up again.

Although there are some good ideas here, the episode doesn't quite flow properly, and the end section, in which Lara is thrown into a decompression chamber is unsatisfying, as she should easily be able to get out, given her powers. There's definitely a certain something missing here, and it can't be filled in by sex and semi-nudity.
