First Wave: 'Speaking in Tongues'

Cade investigates a group led by a preacher he suspects of being an alien.

Cade’s mission this time is apparently to obtain evidence of the aliens by revealing that the preacher, Elton, is not what he appears to the authorities, but all he actually manages to do is burn down the cult leaving no evidence. The point all this is meant to prove is that the aliens have similar emotions to us humans, and are as likely to go mad as the rest of us. Elton is clearly barking already, but luckily still want sot have sex, which allows the episode its obligatory hint of female flesh.

There are a couple of interesting elements here: the alien leader Joshua arrives, demonstrating that the invading race look after, or in this case terminate, their own if they get out of control. Although why he lets Cade go is anyone’s guess. Secondly, there’s a nice scene at the very end where you see that a new cult has risen up to worship Cade rather than Elton. The only problem with this is that he’s being worshipped as the Twice-Blessed Man of Nostradamus’s prophecy. All very well, but Cade and Eddie have the only copy of these prophecies, and have never told anyone else about them. Whoops?
