When a young woman is killed while she is asleep, Cade's investigation leads to a group of psychics who may be able to stop the Gua by sensing their presence.
Another change to the series' format as Cade's quattrain doesn't take him to an alien experiment, but to an alien who has learnt psychic techniques giving them the ability to kill. Waht's most effective here is the way in which suspicion as to who the alien is bounces from person to person throughout the story, until the revelation of who it is surprises everyone.
The characters aren't particularly clear cut, with some being almost interchangeable, but a couple stand out among the rest, especially the telekinetic woman who pins Cade to his chair to teach him a lesson. Quinn is somewhat irritating due to his unhelpful and stroppy nature, but he does come through in the end.
This particular part of the episode, however, puzzles me a little. It's a fanastic moment when the killer tells Cade he's already asleep and therefore in mortal danger, but when he awakens again, I got the impression that I'd missed something somewhere. Not only is Cade in Eddie's caravan, without it being clear how long he's been there and what's been imagined, but Quinn is with him in order to help out, something which seems unlikely after their earlier meeting. Still, if you can ignore this odd narrative jump, along with another that revela the killer early and then glosses over the fact, this is a great and quite spooky episode with some good ideas in it.
