ABC (21:48:52 AEST) Three Christians killed in Maluku village Around 30 Muslims armed with automatic weapons have reportedly attacked a village in Indonesia's Maluku islands, killing three Christians. The secretary of a Christian crisis centre in the provincial capital, Ambon, Cornelius Bohm said security forces stationed on Buru island were outnumbered when the attack occurred. He said hundreds of Christians were now waiting to be evacuated from the island. Police and military officers were not immediately available for comment. The killings come after a period of relative calm in the province, where some 5,000 people have been killed in violence between Muslims and Christians since 1999.
