The three fatalities were John Lesnussa, 35, an elementary school teacher, his son Edison Lesnussa, 13, and Frederik Lesnussa, 67. The four people who went missing are Theresa Dias Leskona, 37, also an elementary school teacher, her sons Yongky Leskona,3, and Alfin Leskona, 5, and Yongky Lesnussa, 23. The riot broke out after a crowd coming on two long boats attacked the village. Head of the Synod of the Maluku Protestant Churches I.J.W. Hendriks, said he had reported the attack to the Maluku Civilian Emergency Government (PDS). "I have also asked the PDS to send reinforcement to the village, in anticipation of another attack," he said. There were only seven security officers in the village when the attackers came and they were powerless in the face of the large number of the attackers. All they could do was to help Kasevillagers run to the nearby forest to hide, Hendriks said. Meanwhile all the victims have been evacuated to Leksula, the capital of South Buru district.
