Fellow Hootie fans, please join our Hootie IRC chat! As discussed in
the Hootie mailing list.. On Wednesday, January
8th at 8:00 pm EST, 5:00 pm PST we will be having our 13th Hootie chat.
Please come join us for some friendly chat! We will discuss everything
about Hootie including the new album, the tour, past songs and albums.
Basically anything about Hootie & the Blowfish! Hope to see ya there!
We will try to schedule these chats often, perhaps every two weeks if people
show up.
Someone brought up the point in email that he wanted to know what time
our IRC chat will take place in GMT (Greenwhich Mean Time) which made me
realize only listing PDT and EDT is not enough. To convert these times
use this handy time
zone converter. Remember, use military time in the converter.
In order to connect to IRC you will need to install a client. The best
IRC client for Windows is mIRC.
If you have a Mac, you can try Ircle
or Homer. For more
information on the chat as well as more detailed instructions on using
Ircle, check out Rob
Teeter's Hootie Page
Once you have the program, simply connect to an Undernet
server through IRC. The main one I use is sandiego.ca.us.undernet.org.
When you connect, simply type /join #blowfish and you will be there!
If you are unsure about IRC, look at this
web page. If you have trouble connecting to the above server, there is
a list of other servers here.
Note: the default port number is 6667. Most servers are extremely
busy on that port number, most can use ports 6660-6670 so try a
different port if you don't connect!
Some one asked the question "Can you get to IRC from America Online?"
The answer is.. You CAN connect to IRC through AOL if you are on a PC.
I don't believe it is possible for a Mac. I found a couple of web sites
that guide you through this process. http://www.mindspring.com/~mcgatney/irc.html
