Thanks to Danielle Benware, Hootie fans now have a mailing list to discuss the group! Here is all you wanted to know about the mailing list but were afraid to ask.

PLEASE SAVE the confirmation you get from the listserve if you are unfamiliar with mailing lists! It tells you everything you need to know about this mailing list. It gets annoying when 20 people send a message to the whole list asking to be taken off of the list. There is a procedure to use.

The Hootie mailing list is now being archived and is searchable. The archive is available on Reference.Com

Subscribing

To subscribe to the list, send an email message to: listserv@dartmouth.edu

In the body of the message type:

SUB HOOTIE yourname

UnSubscribing

To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send an email message to: listserv@dartmouth.edu

In the body of the message type:

SIGNOFF HOOTIE

If you don't want to do all of that, go to the Fan E-Mail Page, there is a form script thingie you can use to join or leave the mailing list.

Digest

If you don't want to get a bunch of email throughout the day, you can request to receive one daily email in digest form of all the messages for that day. This is especially useful if you don't check email often.

To change to the digest version of the list, send an email message to: listserv@dartmouth.edu

In the body of the message type:

SET HOOTIE DIGEST

if you miss all of the mail scattered throughout the day, do the same as above except in the body of the message type:

SET HOOTIE MAIL

You should receive confirmation of your subscription from the listserv system itself.
