Superman @ Project Infinity MUX

Superman(tm) is a Trademark of DCComics(c). The use of his character on PIMUX is simply an expression of my love for this character, and truly hope that the DC folks don't mind. As a side-note, Kal -s considered Canon until October 1, 1997. He then goes off on a tangent similar to that seen in his second experience with Waverider in the Armageddon 2001 series.

Background Story

The events that brought the man we now know as Superman to earth are forever clouded in a veil of mystery for the population of the small green planet he calls home. But to those who know him well, it is the greatest story ever told. It is a story of pain, of loss, of love, and of power.

Many years ago, across the expanse of the cosmos, a small planet was being ripped apart by its own inner workings, and its people forced to stay on their homeworld by the by-product of their religion: science. One man, Jor-el, discovered a way to circumvent this planetary bond, but too late to save himself or his people. In a last attempt, he sent his only son, still developing in his mother's womb, off-planet, in hopes of preserving the Kryptonian race. Soon after, Krypton was destroyed, killing millions of men, women, and children. And the solitary embryo jumped into hyperspace, to find a new home.

No one knows how long the capsule floated in space. Years? Months? Mellenia? However, it eventually fell into a cornfield on a small green planet, called Earth by its primitive inhabitants, in the state of Kansas.

Fate seemed to smile on this lost child, for nearby was a young, childless couple, the Kents, driving home. They saw the flaming object fall from the sky, and immediately went to investigate. To their surprise, they found the capsule, cooling from its entry. After it had cooled, Jonathan opened the capsule, discovering the babe inside. After much deliberation, they decided to keep the child (Or, as Martha would claim, she decided...Jonathan simply put in a token arguement and then gave in). They named him Clark.

That was the year that a heavy blizzard hit the town of Smallville and the area surrounding it. Nobody even questioned the sudden appearance of a child...the Kents had seen through the births of many farm animals...the people around never even thought to question the existance of the child.

Clark grew up as all young Kansas farm-boys do: energetic, happy, and full of life. At first, he seemed completely normal. It was not until later in his teen years that his powers began to manifest, growing stronger day by day. He began to excell in sports, being the quickest, the strongest, and the bravest in his class. Most of those around him admired his abilities, especially Lana Lang, of whom he was greatly enamored.

Slowly, he discovered that he had more than just fine athleticism. Never had he been sickened when the children around him were. Cuts healed completelyin days, and by the time he had reached highschool, he simply stopped getting hurt.

But all of that paled in comarison with his ability to fly.

---

Eventually, all young boys must grow up, and leave their childhood homes, their childhood loves. Even Clark was not immune to this, nor the loss which it created in his heart. He went off to college for a degree in his first love, journalism. From there, he headed off for his first job...in Metropolis. However, no one wanted his new blood, as new blood was easy to come by.

He had to prove himself. He had to show what he was worth.

Through a multitude of experiences, Clark was forced to begin using his new-found powers, and took up a costume to hide his identity, solidifying the difference between himself as a human, and himself as a Super-Powered Being. A certain lady-reporter from the Daily Planet, with whom he would later work, and eventually fall in love with, Lois Lane, gave him the name "Superman," and it stuck.Using his own experiences as Superman, Clark wrote an exclusive interview piece, which gained him a position at the "Daily Planet." He still worked there until the point of his disappearance.

---

Life has not been easy on Clark. He has fought countless Super-Villians,saved countless planets, his adopted home included. He has even been killed andbrought back to life. All this has molded and shaped the man we know today as the Man of Steel. Not even death can stop the human spirit.

Nor can it stop it's greatest champion.

Be it fate or circumstance, Clark eventually proposed to Lois, and married her. Theirs was a relationship made in heaven, and it lasted for four years.

It lasted through the sudden change and recovery of his powers, when he had been a being of energy. It had lasted through the attempted invasion of Earth by the De'cine. It had survived the jealous wrath of Maxima. It had survived, yet it also was deadly. One slip-up. One day forgotten. Lois became pregnant.

Clark was ecstatic. A child to continue his line! Someone to carry on the mantle. This joy was short-lived, as the child began to develop in its mother's womb. The combination of human and Kryptonian DNA created a super-fetus. One capable of incredible feats of strength, even in the womb. Lois died in their apartment from blood poisoning, when the child kicked through the wall of its womb, rupturing a few necessary organs.

Clark was devistated. Within time, he chose to flee earth, having no desire to remain there. He could not save the life of his own wife. He had killed her. His selfishness had killed her. In time, Kal-el ran into Maxima yet again, and a romance began. However, this too was short- lived. Kal-el could not stay in one place.

Searching the vast expanses of space, Clark eventually chanced upon a strange rift in space, a product of the P.I. experiment. Curious, he ventured toward it, and was drawn in. When he awoke, he discovered himself in Beacon Harbor. Lost, disoriented, and disillusioned, Kal-el travels the streets of the city, looking to right wrong as he sees it.

This is the Superman of Beacon Harbor.
