"Serious Creativity : Using the Power of Lateral Thinking to Create New Ideas"
"Serious Creativity : Using the Power of Lateral Thinking to Create New Ideas" What about thinking about thinking about thinking? Isn't Creativity the missing piece in the frustrating journey of Change Agents and Quality Practitioners?
Indeed, there are cries of despairs, frustration for Change Agents, Quality Practitioners when they so intimately believe in the Quality concepts and ideals of an organisation. They have worked and tried very hard on all sorts of programs: employee suggestion scheme, Quality Control Circle, Policy deployment etc. and they know that deep in their hearts something are still missing. They have spent a large portion of their energy on "doing something" "trying to change something" but to no avail. The outcome of such energy is STRESS and frustration. I suggest a part of the energy should be turned into CREATIVITY. It is not necessary that Creativity application can do miracles of transforming organisation into the ideals, but to channel one own energy towards less stress but more creative thinking. A stressful and frustrated person can only do more hurt to himself or herself, thereby becoming counter-productive in his or her endeavour in the Quality journey. Interestingly, when Creativity is applied, inviting many different ideas and perspectives from the people in the organisation, a shared understanding of "What is Quality organisation?" emerges from the group. Try to read and understand the Theory and Concept of Creativity and apply at every opportunity the lateral thinking tools as per "Serious Creativity" by Edward de Bono.
