The basic concept and principles of community building are the same for both virtual and non-virtual. The techniques and manner can be different and different skills need to be mastered.

However, there is one significant difference - the speed of virtual community emerging can be "spontaneious" which may take years for a real world community. But, speedy community building does not necessary gurantee deep and meaningful relationship development. It does not imply a better world for everyone.
