Reality as nonmatter
I personally think that things that are real do not need to be seen. We see things in a certain wavelength and hear things in a certain frequency, can we be certain that things that cannot see is unreal ? Dogs smell more than us; Rabbits hear more than we do; Does this mean that a thing they see and hear is not real ? Can we see wind ? Can we see electricity ? Can we proof love ? We all must agree that a thing that cannot be proven or cannot see does not mean it does not exist, at all.

Idealism
Like Hegal says, the ultimate reality is idea, our thoughts is reality, what inside our mind is real; but please note that, I don't think that this world thinks. When we started to think empty (like the practice of Buddhism), no matter how empty we think, we still couldn't give away the existence of our "self", which is our mind and ideas. Things that are real only if we think it are real.
I had once conflict with a question. Why there is only one "I" and so many "He", "She", "They", "Them", "You" ? I started to think that maybe only "I" was real, and others is unreal, they maybe just an actors or actresses in my life and maybe I am just an experiment of God. "I think therefore I am", this is also one of my believe, the world exist through my consciousness.

All in all, real is debatable, although I think that there are something unseen exist (God), but it seems the reality cannot prove its existence. Life is struggling and conflicting and sometimes, I think faith does the better job. There must be something mystical or unprovable in reality, many things will reveal when the time comes; this has proven through the study of history. Or, if there is nothing can conceive, it exists. :)
