Why
not Hinduism ?
Well, Hinduism believes in reincarnation, which means to be reborn in another
body and this is the major thing I don't believe in. Well, as you can see,
the world is getting worst and the population rate is still increasing.
If sinners were reincarnated to lower level animals or insects, why the
population rate is still increasing but not decreasing ? And, if you notice
that the origin of Hinduism is rather uncertain and it had changed during
the 18th century. Today's Hinduism practices were more worldly compare to
the old practices. Honestly, Hinduism is the most complicated religion
in the world, not many people can really understand its practices.
Hinduism believes in many gods (polytheism); I think that there is only
one God, and that God created the world. Besides of those many gods, there
must be a high god that governs them. Why believe in many small gods instead
of believing in a high god ?
According to Hinduistic practices, The Code Of Manu, which says that there
are four major role in the life of Hindu; First, to be a student. Second,
to be a householder. Third, to be a retired person. Then the last is to become
an Ascetic. Well, what I think is that those practices were concentrate
on the self. It does do with love for others or self-interest.
Hinduism believes that all gods do different things. Like Matsya, the fish;
he appeared at the time of the great flood, to warn humanity. Kurma, the
tortoise; he rescued treasures from the flood. Varaha, the boar; he raised
the earth from the flood. Nara-Simha, the man-lion; he defeated evil demons.
Vamana, the dwarf; he also defeated evil demons. Parasha-Rama, 'Rama with
an axe'; he destroyed the members of the Kshatriya warrior caste who threatened
to dominate the world. Rama-Chandra, the hero of the Ramayana epic; He
was a noble hero who combated the evil in the world; he is the epitome
of virtue. Krishna, a god in his own right, the most popular of all gods;
he is also the hero of many myths, depicted as a lover, a warrior and a
king. Buddha, the enlightened one; the ninth avatar is Gautama; the Buddha
founder of Buddhism. Kalki, the tenth avatar is yet to come. That was the
ten avatars of Vishnu; there will be many more.
Thus, which means there will be another flood after all gods had done their
jobs. If this kept on circulating, what is the purpose of life; absolute
or relative ? this is for you to judge.
Why
not Jainism ?
Jainism was of the extreme type of religion. When one on the extreme,
he is still governs by the body, and body is sin. One cannot really know
the world unless he has some relationships with it. Jainism does not agree
with the spirit, they said that the world is made up essentially of two
substances, the soul(jiva) and the matter(ajiva). Jainism still facing conflict
within themselves and they separated into two groups, which are the Svetambara
and Digambara. If we believe in a separated religion, we still couldn't
find absolute truth for it is the cause and effect but not the original
one.
Why
not Buddhism ?
Well, the existence of Gautama is rather uncertain. Well, Buddhism has
also faced divisions like Theravada Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism, and many
sects and cults; which is the original one is a big question.
The teaching of the Buddha like the Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Path
saying that life is suffering because of craving (Tanha), in order to keep
out of the pain, we need to follow the Eightfold Path which is the right
views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right
effort, right mindfulness and right concentration. Well, how right is right
is rather uncertain.
Do u think that Buddha's teaching is very self-interest ? All things we
do are to keep out of karma. All things we do are for our self-good. And
again, we still cannot actually know how much karma we left. Reaching into
Nirvana is rather a hard job.
Buddha practices Anatta, which is no self. Zen Buddhism often practice meditation
to come to the Anatta state; When one person trying to think nothing, the
self still exist in you; when one tried very hard to stay away from everything,
the self still exist in you; when one trying to avoid self, but do you
know that it is the self that asked you to do so ? how can self-trying
to avoid self ? When one trying very hard to avoid everything, keeping
out of the attachment, they are still one of the extreme, which is the
Buddha doesn't like. And therefore, it still causes suffering. This can
maybe causes one to be more passive.
You can see that today's people, many saying that they are a Buddhist but
still practicing Taoist. They miss up the true practice of Buddhism. They
go to temples, burning jobstick etc. and all are Taoist teachings. Today's
Buddhist had brought many Hinduism teachings like reincarnation.
According to the Ten Precepts, monks cannot sing and dance, have luxurious
bed, acceptance of gold, silver and money, have personal adornment, have
food after mid-day, have intoxication, falsehood, sensuality, stealing
and injury. But unfortunately, today's monks did not follow it.
Why
not Chinese religion (Taoism, Confucianism) ?
Taoism and Confucianism are not actually a religion; it is just a kind of
Chinese practices and believes. Both did not mention the creation of the
universe. Confucianism did not mention that there is a God. Taoism got
mixed up with many gods. Thus, Confucianism is not worth to believe for
it is rather a worldly teaching and more related to tradition and have
bias on culture.
Today there exist a kind of Taoist Church. They relate all the religion
together and form a teaching; they think that all religion have a common
point. We need to know all the common points in order to know our origin.
It seems rather like another reform movement. But they still facing conflicts
in teachings, and some doesn't care about their living, they just like
to speak.
They are striving for idealism. Since we humans are not perfect, how can
we think perfect ? How can we know what is perfect ? I know perfect exists,
but this couldn't help much.
Why
not Judaism ?
Judaism is for the Old Testament. Its practices were worldlier and many
are just traditions rather than religion. If one still live in law and
trying hard to avoid sin, we are still in the work of our body, and all
religion think that body is bad/sin/unclean. We are still driven by our
bodily motives. How can we be good if we still practicing it ?
The future of Judaism is uncertain, is Judaism just for Jewish ? Can a
Jewish believe in something else ? Taday's Jews were still uncertain. Some
Jews still believe in Jesus. Or who is a Jew is also a big question for
there are many different Jews in the World.
Why
not Islam ?
Muslims believe in Prophet Mohammed's Teachings. One day, Muhammad went
to sleep, and he dream that God speak to him and asked him to write a book
called Quran and he claimed that the Quran is believed to be God's last
word to humanity. Islam respects the scriptures of the Jews and Christians,
but the Quran is understood to be God's complete message.
It sounds good but Islam is still exists statuses which God doesn't like. It
is rather political and governmental; it is an organization rather than
a group of people; it has an organized system, constituent act and organic
law rather than free will. In Malaysia, All Malays must convert to Islam,
this is a sign of governmental rules; Then a question asked, does Islam
had to do with Malays ? A religion must not do with races, it must be universal.
Forcing Malays to convert to Islam is an act of force, not will.
Why
Christianity ?
Christians believe in one God that created the world, the seen and the
unseen. They stress on Love, which I agree with. Although Christian churches
had divided into many parts and it is still dividing, it still exists an
original church, which is from the recovery. Reform is hard but recover
is easy. A church that know many on bible knowledge and has no specific
name, organizational laws, not attached to the world; it stresses on life
and living which is a purpose in religion. And still it is not a religion
for religion means divisions; we are just the believers of God and we believe
in the bible.
Why I believe in the bible ? The bible is written from many writers; not
like other religion, Quran, Tao De Ching, Confucian etc are all written
by one person. Can we trust a person writing ? We need prove and signs
to believe in it. The bible is the book I believe for it is written by
many people and it has no conflicts. So how can a book has no conflict
? It must be God's words.
The bible is the only book that specifically mentioned the creation of man.
No other book is more specific than the bible. It clearly explained our
origin and our future. It gave us a purpose, and I think that life needs
a purpose or it will no worth living; this is the essence of eternal life.
Imagine someone just died for you, is there any person died for you ? If
it is so, will you follow any words he says ? He died for you!! And he
gave you the Holy Spirit, how glory is that!!
We all need a religion for we all have curious thoughts on gods existence,
95% of the total population in the world believe in a supernatural being.
