Welcome to the Archway -- the main lobby of this gallery.  Before I tour you inside, let me give you some reminders.  Since we'll be viewing paintings, it'll be best to have your images-option turned on.  This is not a VRML (3D) site, but you will be able to move freely inside the gallery by using three arrows. If you get confused, you can always consult the navigation help page.

If you would like music by Bach to accompany you in your tour, you may make that selection now.  We assure you that it will add a pleasant ambiance to your visit.

That should be it.  You can either view the Main Exhibit on your own or using the Tour Manager; or you can view our growing collection of new acquisitions in the Side Exhibit.  We hope you enjoy your stay.

Use this entrance to tour the Main Exhibit with the tour manager.

View the gallery the way it was intended to be used -- where you can move forward or twist left or right when you want.  This is what makes the gallery truly virtual.

We acquire new Klimt paintings each month, so please come back!

The ornamentation of the Archway in the Vienna Kunsthistorisches Museum, shown above, was painted by Klimt in 1891.  The figures on the left and right of the arch are called Young Girl from Tanagra, and Ancient Greece. This gallery purchased the archway and is now the entrance to the main exhibit.

On your way to the exit, please pass by our library, post office, trophy room, and curator's office. In these rooms you can send mail, order books & posters, and even create your own sybolism of one of Klimt's paintings.
