A City there
...but then why not? This poem represents a stepping stone for me. I'm so new to the Internet that I'm overwhemed now everytime I go on-line with my computer.
I've never had my computer talk to me before. It (or should I say 'she') now transports me to a world I never knew. I don't think this is too different from you from what I've heard.
Somehow I wanted to express that feeling and wasn't sure how I would even attempt to. It was in early January 1997, that I found GeoCities. Now I'm not one to rush into Anything but I kept returning and fell in love with their concepts. I was, quite frankly, getting a little tired of endless travel on the net and just needed to find a home. Maybe this is why so many of us come here now.
I wrote this poem because I wanted to put that concept or feeling into a more understandable format. I also wanted to use poetic license (can I say that?) to open up a little more mystically - maybe that's how I see Geo right now...a Camelot, whereby we can let our imaginations take us to here before undreamed of heights. A Camelot renewed, where romance and adventure are still to be found.
Other than that I haven't a clue - Nova told me some of this, so I will credit her here. Athena (Jennifer - Athens Community Leader) gets some of the credit also. She gave the Lion Courage. Most of all I'd like to dedicate this (from ALL of US in GeoCities) to ALL the great people who made GeoCities possible. May it always remain as a beacon of light to our World and forever remain FREE to Everyone.

Illusions
how can distant voices
be so close
and silent tears
so loud
So began a friendship. I forgot how we came to write to each other. Lou's first letter contained the lines above. He is the reason this poem came to be...the why.
Well, I am not the one to leave well enough alone so I continued it, and he in turn continued it, and I, and he, and it came to be. Had no idea how it was going to turn out till we got into the second half. There is some mystery there. On the day it was completed it made someone cry...and I knew we had a poem.
Oh yes, the ending is Lou's too. Clever that guy. Here I thought we were going to talk about my favorite subject; elves and the forest, and he goes and brings angels and 'we' into it. Maybe that is what I was trying to say all along...
If you haven't figured it out by now the first three stanzas are the questions, the last four are the who, how, what, why, and when. Smart guy that Lou.

a dolphin sings
A sonnet to a dolphin; no, make that a sonnet to All dolphins from All humans.
I wrote this poem in the brief span of an hour. It came to me as I was washing dishes. Someday I'll get a dishwasher but then maybe I'll miss a few poems too.
The evening before this was written I was on Rita's pages and because I adore Rita I told her I would write a poem about dolphins...just give me a few weeks, as I had other things too. Besides, it was a challenge to myself and I took it on as my first 'commissioned' work - to myself.
I woke up to dolphins the next day; a whole sea of them. Before breakfast I knew I'd be starting a new poem right then.
It took the form of a sonnet because of the lines that I had and because I wanted a strong ending. I decided not to carry it more than fourteen lines. Very few words were changed from the original and the end result was that Rita got her poem weeks early. Perhaps she didn't know; my ancestors were ceteceans. It helps to have connections.
