MIKE'S POETRY AND SHORT STORIES PAGE

FLAMAGE

Flames in every corner of my eyes
and no
where to turn to for an escape.
I curl
up and head straight into the flames
and feel no heat nor burning sensation.

I keep my eyes
closed and continue on
into dangerous peril hoping nothing will stop me.
I break free
after what seems to be an eternity.
I slowly
open my eyes and then uncurl myself.

I let some light in and see that I had taken
myself out into what I thought was the night.
But yet there is so much light I feel blinded.
There are many firefighters everywhere I look.

One grabs me and
asks me if I am all right.
I stare into her
eyes and realize she is scared.
She and an
other lady each take an arm .
I stumbl
e and fall, I rise and fall again.

We reach the medi
c, the world is spinning around at high velocity.
I sit down and
look up to see the building I just escaped from.
The twenty story
building is completely engulfed in flames and smoke.
T
here is a great deal of flame, but no heat.

I do
n't understand how there could be so much flame
but I couldn't feel a
ny heat.
In fact I actually s
tart to feel
cold, tired, an
d very dizzy.

I look down at the
door where I had come out
and realize that t
he door is not there any more.
The spinning wor
ld has sped up and over takes me.
That’s all I can
remember from that horrible night.
