[ RETICULATE OVERVIEW ]
Extant problems under scrutiny by science include that of
evolution as well as apparent gaps in conventional wisdom
with regard to :
fundamental physics,
gene structures & function,
and the systems application of epistemology.
In each of these cases the basic problem appears to be the
same: research ultimately leads to a point somewhere
beyond the cartographic coherence of accepted scientific
knowledge - a question that cannot be answered by
available logical, mathematical, or physical analysis.
Towards a New Teleology
This is a somewhat alarming conclusion - that science at
its utmost limits is congruent with some exogenous,
metaphysical realm
The questions simply stated are as follows:
A. The evolution riddle: how to account for the fossil
record, which would seem to discredit creationism, and the
critical gaps between evolved forms, which casts doubt on
the Darwinian doctrine of natural selection, resulting in
incremental mutational metamorphosis.
Refelctions
B. The quantum puzzle: where to pinpoint the critical
connection between radiational and gravitic phenomena and
how to adequately define the profusion of fundamental
events for which relativity theory provides a usable
model, but not a definitive accounting. Recursions on a Theme
C. The DNA - Ribosome - Mitochondria
D. The Metalevel Recursion Set problem: Whence come the
parameters of a system sufficiently coherent to define and
replicate itself...which nonetheless can never be totally
self-contained (subject to mathematical demonstration) -
and whither goes the logical paradigm generated by such
systems when their recursion leads either to an infinite
regress or into random noise? (It seems that this function
indeed is one of elementary definition.)
understand both the system and ourselves.
