Progress Reports
The Progress Page has had hits since Dec 16.

What's New (Progress Reports) From 1998

12/30/97 - Added a link to a cool looking game called Abu's Odyssey to the Links page. As far as Joyous, I got the dungeons working last night in the game and the editor fully, and am messing around with randomized grounds for the dungeons to get a more natural dirt feel. It's interesting. I think I am taking out the RealFlame(tm) technology and going back to a standard light radius. It's getting somewhere, now I just need to speed my editor up in the dungeons (cha cha cha like a baby).

12/29/97 - Well, as you can see by the gif I got the worlds done, and the new overhead map finished. Actually I haven't figured out what to do with the cities, so right now they are pink dots. I also got the editor changed around to support my new dungeons, although I am going to have to modify the dungeon monster stuff tonight, then get the game to notice all these changes. Soon though, I will be able to spend my time getting the dungeon enterances all setup, then spend my time getting the dungeons laid out. I hope to get some classic files added to the free downloads area of the main page, so go ahead and look there in a bit.

12/26/97 - Your free update!!! I am actually at work playing network games, and am bored with Jedi Knight, so here is your very own update! In a combination of the last few nights I have finished up 3 out of 4 of the world maps, so I hope tonight to finish the last one, and then find something new to do on the way to finishing the game. I might work on dungeons next. Considering right now after reworking the world, there are no more dungeons (but that is what I want to work on). Now the dungeons are going to be like Joyous 1 and be levels below the main land, so you can go down from one island and come up on another. TTFN (Ta Ta For Now)

12/23/97 - Cough Cough. I am sick. I have 25 click-thrus!!!! I am finishing work on the 5 worlds, then I am off to finish the dungeons, then finish those spells, then create the rest of the monsters, then finish dialog and cinematics!!! Yee-Ha Yee-Ha. "Woo, this RPG is HUGE!" - Tiny Elvis on Joyous Rebel 2! I probably won't update the page again until monday. So we'll see what gets done between now and then.

12/22/97 - I played a lot of Zelda this weekend, got really sick, saw the new James Bond film, ordered the two other regularly available CD's by Rupert Holmes, and worked on Joyous. For those of you that don't know the man known as Rupert Holmes, here is a Unofficial HomePage. Rupert Holmes Unofficial Homepage I got a bunch of stuff done on Joyous. I got the editor for the worlds closer to perfect, and I got the first four (and maybe the only four) world maps laid out in just water and grass, then I got the first world all filled in with mountains, weeds, and forests. Now I am working on the second world map, I have two mountains laid out.

12/17/97 - Everyone Mosh In a Circle!!! For all you Bruce Lee fans out there, my friend Clayton told me that Enter The Dragon is to be re-released next year to mark the 25th aniversary of his death, or the 20th aniversary or whatever. The important thing, is that Bruce will make another big screen visit!!! I got mountain popping totally working last night, so I can cause mountains to rise from bare land and feel huge!!! I also played some more Zelda 3, I can dash, and have one of the pendants.

12/17/97 - The Game has been updated!!! I added a link to the new page, go check it out in the links section! Go Tsugomo!!! And the Myriad Link works now!!!! Uploaded the Christmas Demo and added a link to download it from the main Joyous 2 Page. Got the beginnings of mountain popping working, I can now grow the base of a mountain, it is going to be more of a challenge to grow the rest, but I am working on it, so soon I should be done with the editor, and ready to finish the world maps. If it would really make your day to see a demo of Joy 2, e'mail me, if I get enough responses (like over 20) I will probably put out a demo sometime before the game gets done. I reserve the right to pull back that offer at any time though :). Oh, and if Geo Cities pops up a window for ya, sorry about that, I don't know what this new advertising scheme is, but I don't appreciate it.

12/16/97 - The progress page has a counter now!!! And I fixed the counter on the main page. I don't know anymore how many hits I have since may, but I am sure it might be over 1000. I also re-uploaded Rebel10.zip because I get 3 megs online now, so if you can't get Rebel10.zip from pht, try right here!!! Oh, and by the way, the progress page counter is different than the main page, this way I can see how many people read this page!!! I love it when you read this, it shows you care!!! I went and saw Myriad, a local Minneapolis band, last night. They rock! They are a dream pop band, and are going to go somewhere someday!!! I'll give you a link here when I find one to their web page. Myriad's Homepage But, I also got it set up in the editor so you can hit 'q' on the world map and it will put the shore around the islands and put the edge around the forest. It made me get so close to being done with the first map in a few hours, and the next maps will be done in no time!!! I am going to try to add mountain growing tonight.

12/15/97 - Rupert Holmes is the greatest rock star ever!!! And with that said, I want to get home tonight and work some more on world building. I am hoping to get the 5 new world maps finished, and to do this I might modify some code so that it helps me with tile placement for shores and forest edges, but anyhow. I want to finish the maps, then either start throwing in some new dungeon maps, or finish spells, or finish dialog, or put in the other story elements. So much to do, so little time at night to work, that is the story of a fulltime worker that writes RPG's (or RPUncha's as I like to call them) :).

12/8/97 - Last night I got the world editor to support 5 world maps, so that with my new story line, as it progresses you will got to entirely new worlds with new towns and new caves, this will concentrate certain elements of the game into each part of the game. I got my 3rd Click-Thru, boy, they are rolling in now, thank you all my click-thru friends!!! I hope tonight to get the game itself listening to the 5 worlds, and then designing them and linking them together to fill out more of the story. And maybe I will watch an Elvis movie.

12/6/97 - Ski King 2 is complete!!!! It's out!!!! Go get it from the main page. After a few days, if no one e'mails me about bugs, I am going to be sending it out to all the hip game spots, just for fun! :) GameHead is dead. www.pht.com used to get all my games, then they would put them on their GameHead CDs and send me a copy. I will miss not having Ski King 2 on a CD from Game Head. Joyous 2 will start up after I get my Christmas Album recorded. This update and Ski King 2 brought to you by my vast array of wrestling holds!!! I needed to sing many songs about Windows 3.1 and RADICAL.DLLs and AOL and GeoCities and NetScape 16bit. It seems like everyone was out to keep Ski King 2 from you, but the goods are here now, so go get 'em. And lemme know what ya think!!!

12/4/97 - Ski King 2 is almost done. I just got my first Click-Thru!!!! Thanks who ever you are!!!

12/2/97 - Ski King 2 is still moving along. I just found out that I can target specific pages for my link exchange to be shown on, boy do I feel dumb. I don't know where it was showing before, but now I targeted my market. Let's watch those click-thrus roll in!!!! I assumed if I went through the standard sign on material, I would set that somewhere, but nope, I just set what I wanted to get, and what type of site mine was, not where I wanted it to go. Plus I have a animated banner now that mentions "Ultima" and "Final Fantasy" so I should pull people in that love those games as I do. :)

12/1/97 - Ski King 2 is progressing well and should be out by the end of the week. I am going to put some new screenshots of Joyous Rebel 2 in the game when you quit, as promotion for Joyous Rebel 2. Fanstasy Origin is back, and I have a link to it on my links page. The story for Joyous has been confirmed in my mind and is very exciting. However, I will have to get rid of that world map that I worked so long on, because now there will be 5 regions to the world, and you will explore one at a time, so as the story progresses you are brought to new lands with new towns and dungeons to explore, and the story line is really good I feel. I don't want to spoil it for you, so you'll have to wait and play.

11/30/97 - I am back from Kansas. I got some new ideas thought of for Joyous 2 while down there. I am deciding wether they are worth doing right now, because they will add up to a 2 month delay (but they might make the game that much better!!!). If I need a vote later this week I will fill in this grey area a little more and ask for a vote. I am considering unearthing Ski King 2 off ZIP Disk tonight and seeing if it would take long to swap in my new sound library and fix it up to a playable version so I have something new for the holidays. It will be freeware unless I come up with something fantastic for it, but I'll let ya know. So I might be taking a little time off of Joyous to work on that and my Christmas record. (Ski King 2 adds degrees of freedom to the skiing among other things, well... you'll see.)

11/24/97 - I am headed down to Kansas for the week, so progress will chill except for what I can do in a notebook. I joined up with Gamma Flares web ring, right now if I click on my page I go to his, then I click on his, and go back to his, so he needs to fix it up a bit, but I am excited to be a part of this web ring. Spells are rocking right along, and I hope to work more on them today before I leave tommmorow morning. I think I have under 10 left, I know I will by night fall. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

11/19/97 - Well, last night I finished all the healing spells, both in combat and from the world. So, now I just have to finish up the attack spells (about 12 to finish, I think, and modify the others slightly). LinkExchange took my new banner today, I haven't had any luck pulling new people in yet with a banner, we'll see what this one does. Thanks for your support, it is coming to completion, steadily reaching the end!!!

11/17/97 - Hello, I guess you found your way to the new progress page. I added new screenshots to the page, as well as a banner that you can take if you want to add a link to my page. I appreciate anyone doing so, and I am working on my own links page, so when I get that finished, if you don't see your game on my page, send me e'mail. Geocities counter is all confused, so who knows how many hits I have. I got all the landscaping done I wanted to in Joyous, so now I am off to finish spells and dungeons and monsters and dialog, then the game is done after I get all the intermissions drawn and programmed. Looking at a release around Feburary. Stay tuned for the demo/shareware to be released in a few months. I don't have a girlfriend right now, but if I did, I would love her very much :)

11/13/97 - Free Stuff!!!!!! Get Ski King and Qwat, two classics that I made a long time ago, but they are free, and they are fun (in my opinion! :) ). Joyous Rebel 1 is now on this sites directory space and is still linked from PHT if you want it from their. So if you still haven't played Joyous Rebel 1, get it now from which ever site is faster! Still working on spells and landscaping at night. Now you can cast full party heals from the ESC menu in the game, so now I just need to add the single character heals and resurrections and then all the healing is done. Then I just have 15 spells or so left to program. That will be cool. Tell all your friends to link to this page so they can keep up on the great details. TCB just like Elvis!!!!

11/11/97 - GeoCities is back up fully now. I got cliffs done last night in Joyous2 as part of my "landscaping" of the world. I am pretty proud of these little shadow casting buggers. Link Exchange has counted 12 people since Sunday going to this page, and my banner has been shown 5 times since then. This is cool! That screen shot up there and the ones at the bottom sure are old, I'll have to do something about that one of these days.

11/10/97 - GeoCities is back to letting me edit my page, so I added a link exchange link now, and I am able to add a Progress Update. I am landscaping right now and programming spells. I have about half of the spells done, and a bunch of miscellanious code done. I think I will keep updating here when I feel like it (read a few times a week! :)). So check back often, you never know when something totally awesome will happen! I don't know what happened to my counter when GeoCities moved servers, but it won't load for me anymore. I hope I don't lose my 500+ hits that I have gathered!

10/29/97 - Don't worry for those of you that keep reading the page hoping that I will update. I am still hard at work on Joyous Rebel 2. It is coming to completion! What I mean by that is I have a few of the towns completely done, the rest need some dialog, and the dungeons need to get finished up. I appreciate the interest shown by all of you that has given this sight it's 500+ hits. I hope that Joyous Rebel 2 will bring you all many hours of Joy and challenge in the near future. I may soon have a WWW-Board or a progress page or something up here so you can keep coming back and finding out what's up. So, keep writing me, and I can use all the support and encouragement I can get. (as well as a spell checker for my web-editor! :) ).
