The articles I have written for THE RUNE

I am a former writer for "THE RUNE" a regional Pagan magazine based in Kansas City, Missouri. I submitted my first article at the end of May 97. I was the Networking Coordinator for the magazine and, as such, I was going to keep a running log of all my articles and the subsequent links to the web pages I have reviewed. The Web Page topics my articles have reviewed and posted are Large and Local (Greater Kansas City area) Groups, Web Circles, and Serena's Top Ten. You can find my articles in the following issues: Summer 97 and Fall 97. I have actually written a few more articles, but I have not (and to be quite honest, probably will not) get them posted, at least for a while.

For those of you who are simply stumbling onto my page and don't really know what Wicca is, I have provided a few links below (written in caps) to give you a basic over view. These were not written by me so I can't say I agree with every part but I believe they will help a novice or a layman dispell some of the myths. I also have a mini-FAQ of my own up for family and friends who have come to check out my page. I will tell you that if your idea of a witch is based on story book portrayls and movie horror stories, you don't have a realistic idea and really need to spend some time reading the faq's. They will give you a better idea of what we do and may prevent you from sticking your foot in your mouth and offending someone without meaning to. The one thing I want to say is that Wicca, Witchcraft, and Paganism are religions just like any other. We are not a cult, we do not sacrifice any living creatures, great or small, and we are not going to try to convert you or your children. WE ARE NOT EVIL!! We are kind, caring souls just like you. We live next door, we work with you, we are your children, sisters, brothers and parents. We are a part of you and you are a part of us.

SERENA'S MINI WICCA FAQ This is my very own FAQ about this religion and how it relates to me. This is mostly written for the people who know me so that they can get some info. before they jump to the wrong conclusions.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WICCA This is probably one of my favorite FAQ sites because, although this is not a single FAQ there are links to some great ones and a lot of other information for beginners in the religion and general basic information.
The Pagan Web This is a wonderful place that offers e-mail classes in varried Wiccan and Pagan topics, some are free and others have a slight charge. This is also the home of a informative little E-zine, Cauldrons and Broomsticks, I anxiously await my copy every couple of months or so. There is a lot of other great info. here too.
The Witches Voice This has quickly become one of the fastest growing and most informative sites on the internet for Pagans. They currently have over 2,880 pages in all and as such I cant even begin to tell you what to expect when you go there, but please make it a first stop when looking for any kind of info, whether you are looking for basic FAQ type info to current events in your area, to networking, and media coverage. They are a clearing house for it all.

I am going to be setting up a Silver Star award that will be given to some of my favorite pages and those with the most useful information. If you have a page you would like to nominate, e-mail me with the URL, name of the page and what it is that you find most informative.

Requirements for acceptance:

1) The site must be informative. 2) Not every site nominated will win, so don't take it personally if I don't give you the award. This is soley based on my own personal observations. Put it this way, If I were evaluating my own site, I would not win, as I dont have enough orriginal information and my site doesn't say much that is different that the other sites. It just arranges it better and makes it easier for people to navigate. 3) If your site is dedicated to a level above the novice seeker, you will be given special consideration. There is a lot of information for the seeker but not too much for those who have the basics down, but don't have a teacher or a mentor to take them to the next step. 4) Basically, If you have a site that I, and others, can use as a reference as opposed to a diversion, you have a very good chance of being selected. 5) If you are turned down, you may re apply in the future, after you have made improvements in your site.
