LADY M (aka Claire)

A work in progress...

Welcome one and all.....
I have many interests, but only a few can be delved into here. Let's meet the hostess, shall we?

Who am I?

I am a college student yet again (to be clarified below), and (surprisingly!) a newly married woman! Twenty-three years old, and wanting to see absolutely everything there is to see. I am highly emotional, the typical Cancer, and live for the discussions I have with my friends.

I graduated April of '96 from a small, overpriced liberal arts school known as Adrian College. A.C. is located, where else, but in Adrian, Mi.--a town which, as you enter from the northeast, greets you with a large sign reading "Jesus is Lord over Lenawee County". But as strange, small, and closed off as Adrian can sometimes be, it was a good home for me--and, after all, it brought me in contact with some great people. The theatre program is probably miniscule in comparison with those from larger schools across the country. But, it was a hell of a lot of fun, and hey, they let me direct, act, whatever I wanted to do. That's cool. Adrian also allowed me to spend hours with my professors in their cramped, tight offices--hours spent in discussion. Check out my Literature Page to see some of the seeds planted in my brain...

I was sucked into the Shakesperian world during college, as a theatre and English (Lit) double major. The last show I performed in was Macbeth (hence, my stage name here). Coincidentally, Macbeth himself was played by none other than Matthew, my then newly found love.

Two topics which never cease to bore me are relationships within Shakespeare, and what was being attempted with such interconnections. I have most experience with the comedies, even though I realize this is not popular with those critics who feel the historical plays are the rage nowadays. But the relationships are strongest within the comedies and dramas.
I am in love with the connection between Shakespeare as a literary figure and a thesbian. He has my every professional passionate love, and my e-mail is always open for conversation.

This thing called Marriage

A little over a year ago, I was riding in a car going from college to Ann Arbor with my good friends Amy Marsman and Matthew (who are both highlighted in "Friends and Family". We were going to see a philosophy lecture, and got into a discussion on marriage. These are the two people I love discussing this with most. Amy had definitive feelings against the idea, and Matt and I remained hopeful that our respective marriages would be different. That, in fact, it would be possible to redefine marriage.

For the most part, I don't agree with marriage. That is, I disagree strongly with the modern interpretation of what marriage is. I was married on December 28th, 1996 to Matt (!), and when we decided to get married, it had nothing to do with security, or the desire for a WEDDING, or a feeling that we would not be complete without someone else in our lives. These concepts never even occurred to us. We decided we want the same things: to travel, to learn, to experience. And we are in love in a way that is inefible. Joining our lives is what came naturally!

People being together is the thing. The marriage isn't the focus: the relationship that spawned that marriage is IT! This is where I differ with most people on the topic of marriage. They go into it for one of the aformentioned reasons. This is sad, because life from an individual perspective is great! Marriage should be a mass of experiences collected through two people's individual perspectives....then shared.

Thank you, Matthew, for redefining.....
