Doris raises an eyebrow. "Would you mind if I brought a camcorder to our next conversation? I'd really like to watch this again with some friends of mine."
You cover your face and wail, "No, no, you don't understand! You don't know what my thoughts have been. You don't know what chaos I've unleashed!"
Doris manages to smile. "Most thoughts are just thoughts -- they pass through and are gone. It's true that the more you think about something, the more power you're giving to that image. But just because you fantasize over and over again about a giant hairy monster tomato doesn't mean your visualization will bring it to life. Instead what you're bringing to life and empowering is your own personal terror at giant hairy monster tomatoes."
"Oh great," you say, "Now I've got a new image to add to my bizarre collection."
"So most of the time when you think about something, you're adding only a little bit of energy to the thought and when you think about something over and over, those little bits of energy can eventually begin to add up. The fifth step of spell-casting shows how you can add a big burst of energy to the visualization all at once."
You breath a sigh of relief. "So what's the fifth step?"
