Don Allan - 09/22/00 05:15:39 My Email:d.a.allan@worldnet.att.net | Comments: All my life I always thought there was something missing in my spirtitual development. As a boy I questioned my religion (methodist). The whole thing didnt make sense. I always thought there must be some sort of "belife" for people like me. I spent years going from just not caring if I found it to REALLY looking. About 12 months ago I came upon Taoism. I knew in my heart this is what I had been searching for. At first it was like I didnt really belive it...Istill kept comparing taoism with other beliefs almost hoping for something to not fit. but again and again taoism proved to be "the way" for me By the way Iam 52 years old. My only regret is that I didnt find Taoism sooner but maybe that was part of the journey. |

Craig Stehr - 03/23/00 00:44:07 My Email:craigstehr@altavista.com | Comments: Warm spiritual greetings. I am going to Washington D.C. to be part of the April World Bank-IMF protests/direct action, and am planning to remain on the east coast beyone April. Presently, I am living under a tarp, with four dollars, in central Berkeley. .due to my having spent the past quarter century cultivating a spiritual life, doing radical Earth organizing/direct action, and homeless service work all over the country. At 50, I have never felt or looked healthier...despite insane materialist culture s regular admonition that I wasted my university education, and am screwed forevermore. The City of Berkeley offered me a FREE Greyhound bus ticket outta here (after I passed a mental health evaluation, of course), as long as I guarantee a pickup and safe housing at the other end. The mayor's declaration that "the 60s are over in Berkeley" asn't convinced everyone here to dash right out and become a full blown shopping automaton; in fact, my Earth Liberation Front/Food Not Bombs/Berkeley Liberation Radio/People's Park/Critical Mass-Reclaim the Streets colleagues are interested in getting ri of global materialism altogether! Otherwise, I am very happy to be "one with the Tao", in full stride doing what's right and continuing to be here properly! How are you? Craig Stehr, c/o 640 40th St., Richmond, CA 94805. |

From what I've read, the similarity between this spiritual path and Paganism, how I define my current path, is striking -- the focus on inner knowledge, conne ting to the energy flow of the universe, and serenity and balance. I would like to meet others practicing Taoism in Maine. |

I live in Maryland and do not know of a place of worship around me. Please let me know one way or another if you can help, or if you know someone that can help. |

Phillip Gottfredson - 07/21/98 03:15:15 My Email:core@fiber.net | Comments: I was given a copy of Tao Te Ching by Lao Tsu, and interpolated by Gia Fu Feng and Jane English. That was in 1974. The book has become to me as the bible is to the christians. I have had no other exposer to the Tao, but honestly is there more? I look for others that may give me a broader overview of Taoism, although I fear of knowing more may distort my unique vison born of isolated inocense. Just a few months ago, and after years of patience, I finally understand what Lao Tsu is saying. A kind of spiritual awakening. I seek to build upon my awareness. Though doing so causes me to battle with desire. would like to join the Circle, if only as a observer. I wish you peace, tranquility, and freedom from discontent. Phil |

Possibly within a ritual, or meditation? I am just at a loss and don't know where to turn. Thanks for your time, and I enjoyed your site. Amanda |
