Athens Real Scoop Ezine Poetry

Tuning the Bozouki

In Athens

Do these stones ever dream?
Athens - ancient city state,
Founder of schools of thought.
City? The idea came from you.

Do your dirty streets recall that,
Ancient has no meaning here?
Future generations will rue,
Contamination and your crumbling legacy.

In Dublin

Eirran's shore where Ulysses strode,
All on a rainy Bloomsday.
Dear dirty, Dublin,
Grime clinging to your millennium clock.

Eire to Ellas
Airplanes annul the miles
Distances are dissolved.
Greek bozoukis tuned in Liffey pubs.
