Ms. Hoisman has been teaching at Monte Vista since 2000 and really enjoys working with the great staff. Before she came to MV, she taught grades K-6 for 3 years at different schools in San Diego. She also worked as a preschool teacher. Ms. Hoisman received her undergraduate degree in child development from San Diego State University in 1995. She received her teaching credential from National University in 1998. She has wanted to be a teacher since kindergarten. She loves children and has always wanted to be able to make a difference in a child's life.
Ms. Hoisman grew up in Highland Park, IL and San Diego, CA. She has 3 brothers. Growing up her favorite teacher was her kindergarten teacher, Miss Greenfield, who taught her that it's okay to color outside the lines. Ms. Hoisman remembers when she marched all the kindergarten children into the cloakroom to play Bridge, not knowing what the game was. She's been to Greece and would like to visit Australia some day.
Ms. Hoisman enjoys working out and bike riding at the beach in her free time. Her favorite books are mysteries, James Patterson and Nicholas Sparks are her favorite authors. For children, The Trouble with Magic by Ruth Chew is a favorite as well as books by Beverly Cleary. Her favorite food is PIZZA! What is her favorite movie? The Sound of Music!
