GOLDEN WORDS

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 46:10 - KJV

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."

Psalm 46:10 - NIV

Cease striving and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."

Psalm 46:10 - NASB

Lord help me to relax about insignificant details
beginning tomorrow at 7:41:23 AM P.S.T.

Lord help me to consider people's feelings,
even if most of them ARE hypersensitive.

Lord help me to take responsibility for my own actions, even though they're usually NOT my fault.

Lord, help me to not try to RUN everything.
But, if You need some help, please feel free to ASK me!

Lord, help me to be more laid back,
and help me to do it EXACTLY right.

Lord help me to take things more seriously,
  especially laughter, parties, and dancing.

Lord give me patience,
and I mean right NOW!

Lord help me not be a perfectionist.
  (Did I spell that correctly?)

Lord, help me to finish everything I sta

Lord, help me to keep my mind on
one th -- Look, a bird -- ing at a time.

Lord help me to do only what I can, and trust you for the rest.
And would you mind putting that in writing?

Lord keep me open to others' ideas,
WRONG though they may be.

Lord help me be less independent,
but let me do it my way.

Lord help me follow established procedures today.
On second thought,  I'll settle for a few minutes.

Lord, help me slow down
andnotrushthroughwhatIdo.    Amen

"Love is kind" 1 Corinthians 13:4.

"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Anonymous.

"Do not say to your neighbor, `Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow'when you now have it with you." Proverbs 3:28. Compassion cannot be timed. "Too little, too late" is a tragic assessment of damaged friendship. There is a proper time for impulsiveness. When we feel compelled to make a call or to take up a worthwhile cause, there is no time, literally, like the present to make of life a present to others.

Sometimes we weigh an action on a scale of what we call common sense until it becomes such a heavy burden and so onesided that we decide we can't help. "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" Galatians 6:2. Burdens come in all sizes and shapes, and they may seem to be unfair burdens, both for ourselves and others. But we are all dust and the environment in which we all live is polluted and our loved ones die always at a bad time and tornadoes and hurricanes always strike at inopportune times. We're all in the same rocking boat and these are the times to take advantage of our opportunities to give others God's love and ours.

"The king asked, `Is there no one still left in the house of Saul to whom I can show God's kindness?'" 2 Samuel 9:3. David was concerned about showing compassion because of his great love for Jonathan, Saul's son. And it was God's kindness he wanted to share, so his motivation was pure.

Kin Hubbard left us a good thought, "Kindness goes a long ways lots of times when it ought to stay at home." (Instant Quotation Dictionary, page 163) How hard it is to love the unlovable. The humorous footnote to this is that our family members may feel the same way about us!

"God, that comforteth those that are cast down."

- 2 Corinthians 7:6

One word of God is like a piece of gold, and the Christian is the gold beater, and can hammer that promise out for whole weeks. So, then, poor Christian, thou needest not sit down in despair. Go to the Comforter, and ask him to give thee consolation.

"Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil."

-  Matthew 4:1

cardinal

A holy character does not avert temptation – Jesus was tempted. When Satan tempts us, his sparks fall upon tinder; but in Christ's case, it was like striking sparks on water; yet the enemy continued his evil work.

Slow to Anger

You would hardly imagine gorgeous supermodel Cindy Crawford turning up at a seminar on dating, but in September she spent two days at a seminar conducted by John Gray, author of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus. During a panel discussion on communication problems between the sexes Crawford volunteered that communication was seriously lacking in her failed marriage to Richard Gere. To illustrate the point she told the following story:

Because of an ulcer, she preferred hot chocolate in the morning to coffee. Gere's favorite beverage was tea. One morning, thinking he was doing her a favor, he brought her a cup of tea. She got in his face and blasted out an obscenity, followed by, "Haven't you noticed all this time that I don't drink tea? You do."

How tragic. He thought he was being kind; she took it as an insult. All of us, and especially married couples, need to be slow to speak, slow to anger and eager to listen, don't we?

Who Has the Right to Steal Joy

by Cathy Vinson

Much that lies in shining out as lights is in the guarding of Holy Spirit joy. Without it "the radius of our perspective is too tight, and the tunnel of our hope is too long." None of us need that.

"Do all things without grumbling and disputing" (Phil 2:14). Charles Swindoll has put it well:

"Ever been around a sourpuss? We all have. And even when we try to resist being influenced by such negativism, we find some of it rubbing off. HOW UNFAIR to pass around the poison of pessimism! It creates an atmosphere of wholesale negativism where nothing but the bad side of everything is emphasized....

"Those who hope to laugh again...must learn to 'do all things without grumbling and disputing.'...Verbal pollution takes a heavy toll on everyone. Furthermore, WHO GAVE ANYONE THE RIGHT to pollute the air with such pessimism? I agree with the person who said:

"We have no more right to put our discordant states of mind into the lives of those around us and rob them of their sunshine and brightness than we have to enter their houses and steal their silverware.'

Who has given us or anyone else the right? We have foolishly allowed this type of robbery. God is here. Let the "talk (that) comes out of your mouths...(be) only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen" (Eph 4:29).

"Do all things without grumbling and disputing"

Phil 2:14

"We have no more right to put our discordant states of mind into the lives of those around us and rob them of their sunshine and brightness than we have to enter their houses and steal their silverware."
