GOLDEN WORDS

And they were singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:

"Great and marvelous are your actions,
Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations.

Rev. 15:3- KJV

and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:

"Great and marvelous are your deeds,
Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
King of the ages.

Rev. 15:3 - NIV

And they sang the song of Moses the bond-servant of God and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are Thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; Righteous and true are Thy ways, Thou King of the nations.

Rev. 15:3 - NASB

Judaism and Christianity are singing religions. Atheism is songless. It has nothing to sing about. The funeral notices of Robert Ingersoll, the noted agnostic, stated, "There will be no singing."

The psalm-singing of Christian martyrs going to their deaths in the arena alerted the Roman Empire to the fact that a new and revolutionary force was coming into being. When the pleasure-bent populace saw the Christians singing as they fearlessly entered the amphitheater where hungry lions awaited them, they were filled with awe.

Heaven is vibrant with song.

Daily Meditations by Pat Nordman

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men" Colossians 3:23;

"So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, `We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty'" Luke 17:10.

"The true calling of a Christian is not to do extraordinary things but to do ordinary things in an extraordinary way." Dean Stanley. We feel we need to do great things for God, when all God asks of us is that we do our duty. What a tiresome word, duty! Brother Lawrence, a remarkable man who lived many years ago, wrote an even more remarkable book titled THE PRACTICE OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD. Brother Lawrence tells us that he is content with the pots and pans; that he is delighted to pick up a straw where no straw should be. His daily duty was in the kitchen, work that he didn't like but, by practicing the presence of his precious Christ, he made it into joyful service for others.

"Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?" Matthew 20:6c. We have all kinds of excuses for not working: we lack experience, opportunity, money, or time; we couldn't find work; we didn't hear the alarm clock, etc. But we are told that whatever we do (which implies we are to do something), we are to do it with all our might, for we are to do it for God and not for men's approval.

"As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me" John 9:4. There are two interesting words here, "day" and "we." Jesus is honoring us by including us within His work. Jesus went about doing good and doing His Father's work (Acts 10:38) while there was still time. He didn't go about seeking honors or approval; He simply went about doing good and working the works of love and duty, and this is what He asks of us. "Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man" Ecclesiastes 12:13.

Take the Time

Why don't people stop and think Why don't they ever see... That one of life's most perfect gifts Is theirs each day, for free? Take the time to watch a sunset Or walk through a summer shower There's nothing so important That it cannot wait an hour... Take the time to say a prayer Make love or make a friend, Play with children, read a book The learning shouldn't end. Take time to say "I'm sorry" And learn how to forgive. Let justice, love and loyalty Dictate the way you live. Take the time and use it well Or one day when you wake; You'll find that when you need it most There's no time left to take!! But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.

Job 16:5 (NIV)

Watch Your Own Feet

by Cathy Vinson

"They tie their shoes the same way you do," a father consoles his competitive son. How often we compare ourselves to others! And while we do, our shoelaces remain untied...we lose what we could be. We need to watch our own feet.

Scripture tells us:
"But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold, for I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked" (Ps 73:2,3). The psalmist almost lost his God-given footing when he was clutched by the welfare of the undeserving.

It IS trying to see another bountiful blessed in an area where we lack. Jesus said to Peter, "What is that to you? You must follow Me" (Jn 21:22). We are responsible for our own path, not another's. Are our feet walking after Jesus?

"When they compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. We however...will confine our boasting to the field God has assigned to us" (2 Cor 10:12,13). What is our assignment? Are we fulfilling it?

"Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load" (Gal 6:4,5).

Why is another affecting us? distracting us? causing us to lose our foothold? Watch your own feet. "Test our own actions." The security we mistakenly seek through comparing is there for us. It's in following the freshly-trod steps of Jesus, our Lord.
"But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold, for I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked".

Psalms 73:2,3

Why is another affecting us? distracting us? causing us to lose our foothold?
