Delight yourself in the Lord
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Psalm 37:4-6 NIV
Delight yourself in the Lord. To do this we must first know Him. We
need to study and meditate on His word. We need to grow spiritually. When we have
developed this relationship with God we will delight in Him. Once we have this trusting
and loving relationship with God we will turn over all phases of our life to his will. We
will allow him to guide and direct us in our work, play, family, and other personal
relationships.
Trust in God, we will see that he can better provide and care for us than we could ever
manage by ourselves.
More people would live to a ripe old age if they weren't too busy providing for it.

"God is not so unjust as to forget your work..." (Hebrews 6:10).
The discouraged need to know that God observes good works. His inspections take in the
good as well as the bad. Any worthy parent knows that the child who is constantly
harangued about his or her shortcomings will never give the best, and understandably so,
for the child knows that the best will never satisfy simply because the parent is looking
for the worst. How sad.
Let us remember that God's inspection considers the good things we do in relation to our
capacities and our possibilities. He calls that very good that which we think much below
our standard.

Spurgeon's Morning for June 15 |
Spurgeon's Evening for June 15 |
"And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me." - Genesis 21:6 |
"He openeth, and no man shutteth." - Revelation 3:7 |
It was far above the power of nature, and even contrary to its laws, that the aged Sarah should be honoured with a son; and even so it is beyond all ordinary rules that I, a poor, helpless, undone sinner, should find grace to bear about in my soul the indwelling Spirit of the Lord Jesus. |
Jesus is the keeper of the gates of paradise and before every believing soul he setteth an open door, which no man or devil shall be able to close against it. What joy it will be to find that faith in him is the golden key to the everlasting doors. |

...and by his light I walked through darkness! JOB 29:3 NIV
What Life Is by Pat Nordman
|
Life is a race. Don't whimper if the track is rough and the goal is distant. One day you shall reach it. Life is a voyage. Don't complain if the storms batter the hull or the winds tatter to shreds the sails. One day you shall come to your haven. Life is growth. Don't find fault if the seed lies smothered and submerged in the dark earth before it blooms and blossoms. One day you shall have your harvest. Life is a pilgrimage. Don't falter on the road through self-pity because stones cut your feet and leave your blood on the trail. One day you will come to Immanuel's land. The God who through the boundless skies guides the flight of the sparrow, who builds the blind bird's nest, will see to it that in his good time you shall arrive. Joseph R. Sizoo. Life is so many things. If we can finish the race and win the crown, then it is eternal, too. Thank You, Father, for this day! Send a note to © Pat Nordman , the writer of this devotion. |
