Jenny Lykins - Gayle Lynds

Lykins, Jenny - ECHOES OF TOMORROW  (Jove - 1997) (5)
Set in beautiful New Orleans, this is a time-travel romance with a unique, creative story line and refreshing humor, which we have come to expect from Jenny Lykins. Elise and Reed are endearing characters, sharing a love so powerful it transcends the boundaries of time. You will laugh, cry...and above all, you will remember this one! Bravo, Jenny!  ~Betty (bettyb6754@aol.com)

Lykins, Jenny - LOST YESTERDAY  (Jove - 1997) (4)
A new voice in the time-travel genre and an auspicious debut for Jenny Lykins! Set primarily in 1876 Memphis, this one has some twists and turns I haven't seen in a time-travel before; no spoilers here—you'll have to read it yourself. Just DON'T peek at the ending!  ~Gail (bookbabe@javanet.com)

Lykins, Jenny - WAITING FOR YESTERDAY  (Jove - 1997) (5)
Although this book is a time-travel, the story revolves around the two main characters instead of the time-travel aspect. Jenny Lykins is such an emotional writer and she always comes up with a great ending. I could feel Chase falling in love with not only Barrett, but the baby he didn't want to love. It's been a long time since I've read anything so heartwarming and human. ~Mary Sue (msj1144138@aol.com)

Lynds, Gayle - MASQUERADE  (Berkley - 1997) (4)
A woman awakens in pain, suffering from amnesia. Eve Sansbourough is told that she is an ex-agent for the CIA, that there is a contract out on her, and that an international assassin, the Carnivore, has accepted the contract. She doesn't believe this at first, but an attack at her home convinces her. She agrees to help the CIA with a mission to bring the Carnivore into the United States, where he will receive political asylum in exchange for information on all the assassinations he has committed for third-world countries over the last 30 years.

Once at the CIA training camp, Eve begins to remember her past. With the help of agent Asher Flores, she escapes to look for answers. Eve and Asher are declared rogue agents and are immediately put on a "shoot-first" status. She discovers that she has become involved in a double-cross within the CIA, which plans to kill the Carnivore instead of bringing him in. Eve and Asher then discover another, even more deadly, plot.

MASQUERADE grabs your attention from the first page and never lets go. To say much more would spoil the twists and turns this story takes. It is a breathless tale filled with intrigue, deceit, and multiple plots. Just when you think you have figured out what is going to happen, Lynds throws yet another curve into this tense, fast-paced novel. The author also shows how a woman can be effective as the central character in what has traditionally been a man's role. MASQUERADE will keep you reading long past your bedtime, or you'll find yourself putting off your chores in order to finish it. This book is an excellent first work, and Lynds is an author to watch. ~Pat Cavender for Bookbug on the Web

Bookbug Review

Lynds, Gayle - MOSAIC  (Pocket Hardcover - 1998) (4)
Julia Austrian is a concert pianist, who ten years earlier...on the night of her debut, became blind. Her blindness was diagnosed as a Conversion Disorder, or the more common term of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

While giving a performance at Royal Albert Hall in London Julia unexpectedly regains her sight, but this wonderful turn of events is short-lived. Later that evening while returning to her London hotel, she witnesses her mother's murder. Her blindness returns, but not before she sees the face of the killer. The next day Julia returns home to the United States determined to regain her eyesight and find her mother's killer. She has no idea that powerful family members are waiting to unleash evil forces, which will attempt to keep her from doing both.

Sam Keeline is a veteran operative of the CIA. A botched assignment during the fall of East Germany now has him chained to a desk at CIA Headquarters working as a senior analyst. One day he receives a package in the mail that hurls him back into the world of intrigue and straight into the path of Julia Austrian. Together Julia and Sam battle sinister forces that will eventually topple one of America's most prominent families and throw the United States political system into disarray.

MOSAIC is a romantic thriller that keeps the reader enthralled from page one. The characters are sensational, with the villains identified up front. Gayle Lynds has the ability to push the reader's emotional buttons by weaving a tender love story in the midst of betrayal, greed and violence. Be prepared to be kept on the edge of your seat!  ~Olivia Holton for Bookbug on the Web
