COMPETITION RULES

as used at Macquarie in 1983

More information about this archive is in http://www.oocities.org/legviiii/competitions/index.htm.

Competition rules are in the order of last use:

Weapon Making

Archery

No rules were written down or circulated prior to the convention. We mainly picked up the competitions by osmosis.

There definitely was an archery competition, because I painted the target. The archers present showed that it was indeed possible to hit a target as small as an eyeslit at some distance, but I guess with Templars, its personal.

The clout was stopped part way through after a lone bagpiper emerged from the left side of the range only to have six arrows bury themselves a foot into the ground around him.

Weapon Making?

I seem to remember Phil Barnes winning some sort of weapon making competition, but it may have been the mead I'd consumed that night...

Stephen Hande was awarded first place for the most long-winded lecture for the classic "Transitional Armour". We still threaten the kids with the video when they muck up.
