Crystal River Aligned to Orion?

I have gotten interested in the ancient Indian ceremonial site at Crystal River, Florida leading me to investigate and visit it. In doing so I have found a number of astrological matches between it and the Great Pyramids of Giza.

Identical Alignments

Crystal River is a state archaeological site located north of Tampa on the west coast of Florida and was one of the longest continuously occupied sites in Florida (200 B.C. - 1400 A.D.).  There are three main earthen mounds.  Two are rectangular pyramidal temple mounds with ramps and flat tops for buildings.  The center mound is round with a ring mound around it (mostly destroyed); hundreds of burials and artifacts have been excavated from it.

 The site was an important ceremonial and cultural center.  A giant calendar of shell and stone was constructed for primitive solar observations.   There are also stelae (carved ceremonial stones) similar to those found in the Yucatan.  The artifacts indicate a trade route from the Yucatan north to the Ohio Valley Hopewell Indians.

Archaeologists are finding many worldwide ancient sites that were astronomically aligned. I became interested whether this was also true at Crystal River. The book "Orion Mystery" by Robert Bauval & Adrian Gilbert demonstrates the correlation of the three Great Pyramids of Giza aligning with the three stars in the belt of the constellation of Orion.

I overlaid Crystal River’s site map (by C. B. Moore -1903) onto the photos in the ‘Orion Mystery" book. The layout of the three main mounds on Crystal Rivers map lined up with the pattern of Orion’s belts three stars and the layout of the Giza pyramids.

Both sites are situated along a river, both are approximately around 30 degrees north latitude and both were known astrological observation sites. The triangle formed by the layout of both sites pyramids and the stars of Orion have identical angles and proportional sides. 

I have recently read that some pyramids in China may have the same alignment. I have to wonder: 1) Did the Floridians position their site to deliberately align with Orion? 2) Did they build this independently or was there influence with the Old World.

I would like to investigate this site further. Do you know of anyone that has done a similar study of this site that would prove or disprove my theory?
