Living in the Love of the Common People
Former American president Abraham Lincoln noted during the American Civil war;
"Common looking people are the best in the world: that is the reason the Lord makes so many of them."
A healthy self-esteem is important as some of us tend think too little of ourselves. On the other hand, some of us overestimate ourselves. The key to an honest and accurate evaluation is knowing the basis of our self-worth - our identity in God. Apart from God, we aren't very capable of very much by eternal standards. Evaluating yourself by the standards of success, achievement and money can cause you to think too much about your worth in the eyes of others and thereby miss your true value in God's eyes. So get an accurate picture of yourself, based on unconditional God's love for you.
Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
