If I could turn back time?
Author of the Narnia Series C.S. Lewis pointed out the obvious once when he said;
The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever they do, whoever they are.
Sadly, too many people are always about to live. They are waiting until things change, until they are older, until they have more money. Often children will say, "Just wait till I grow up". We can't wait until we finish school; Young people look forward to the time when they will leave home/ get married/ have a nice house/ have a career. Then they will be happy. Always in winter they are looking forward to spring!
Now is the only time there is. It's up to us to turn our minutes into miracles. We must find meaning and joy at this time, not some other. There's no point in waiting for happiness. We need to recognise it in our lives now. The sad thing is, that when get to these things we so look forward to, we often find ourselves looking back and remembering those 'good old days'. Make them good, before time makes them old.
Teach us to make the most of our time,
So that we may grow in wisdom.
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
So we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
