A group of people were given a flu vaccine. Half the group had meditation lessons and followed a daily meditation program. The other half of the test group just got the vaccine. The researchers found that after two months, those in the meditating group had significantly higher levels if flu fighting antibodies than those from the non-meditating group. Further, the meditators dealt with stress better and demonstrated an increase inn the area of the brain linked with good moods.
There's a strong Christian principle here. The Bible urges us to 'Be still and know that I am God'. Christian meditation does not involve emptying your mind. Rather, it acknowledges the presence of God and focuses on his unconditional love for us through Jesus Christ. It does not focus on the power of the self. Rather, it invites the Holy Spirit into our lives so that God himself may inspire our actions and motivations. Don't be afraid to dream dreams. Take time to stop and know that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
