However, it's also true that 'Where there's no will, there's no way.' What state would the world be in today if passionate people such as William Wilberforce had not devoted themselves to the abolition of slavery? If it were not for the conviction of people like Bishop Desmond Tutu, apartheid may not have been overturned in South Africa. The apostle Paul let neither prison nor constant death threats get in the road of the Christian message he felt compelled to see spread throughout the world. The list could go on and on.
The question is, who will stand up for the issues that face the world today and in the future? Where are the leaders who, motivated by equality, righteousness and freedom, will stand up against injustice and oppression today? Where are the peacemakers in a world that is determined to resolve both our individual and global grievances through conflict, aggression and violence?
I believe that the way forward is for all of us to prayerfully ask for the empowerment and protection of the Spirit of God to motivate our wills and empower our hearts to find ways to bring about a changed world.
