        "What a strong word.
Forceful and to the point. We are going to speak of power here in a way that it is not
usually understood. Power is shown in our everyday lives. Power is developed each day.
Power is wielded in small and large ways each day. Children display it. Adults display
	it. Animals display it.
How is it that a common, daily thing such as power
is so misunderstood? Because it is misused. You see it. You know when it is used for
good and when it is not. The misuse of power can be devastating to many people. It can
be devastating to the environment. It can be devastating to the self.
Within the family structure, there is always a
certain amount of power play. Sometimes it is balanced and is not a problem. It is
when it is unbalanced that the power displayed becomes a problem.
Power is like a staff that one leans on and uses to
walk and climb. Power is like a staff that can be used to attack or hold off that which
is attacking. All around you there are displays of the need for power. We see it in
groups. What is the need for this display? The need for strength for an individual is
multiplied when there is the power of numbers, of force.
Power is the ability to stand alone and to rely on
the self. It is an ingredient that is necessary in facing life's challenges. It is when
power is forced on another or used for force, that it becomes a problem.
Power manifestations are desired by some people.
It furnishes a foundation for their being. And, we all know of situations where
individuals have used that power over others.
When we speak of power, we must look at the aspects
of it that causes good results. Power within is seldom there within as a heritage.
Usually it is brought about or grown by the development of it through hard experiences
and need. To survive takes strength. Strength and power are closely aligned.
Developing strength of purpose, strength of character, strength needed for integrity, and
the other aspects of strength takes patience. Like a garden, it does not grow all at once.
One must first plant the seed, or rather the ground must be properly prepared for the seed.
Then that seed must be nourished and with patience, love and care, the seed begins to
manifest itself into a plant. So, we have a seed of strength. A tiny seed. Being aware
of the need for strength and developing strength needed is in itself a powerful
manifestation of goals. If one can sense the strong power of the spirit within and the
strength and power of the self, that is the first step in developing a power that is not
	threatening but is sustaining.
Self power is the most perfect power. It is
controlled and developed within each individual. It will be displayed by some. Others
who have it will not openly show it nor will there be a need to have it openly expressed.
Power is a staff. Walk with it well."
