Diamonds are like bright light. One stone can
capture the eyes of
another. Several stones reflect together in such
a way that at times it
seems to be one stone. If you look at diamonds,
you'll see why they are
graded. Some are quite rough and low in
brilliance and some are clear
and bright. Those that are of exceptional
clarity are in a class by
themselves as the price required to obtain them
seems astronomical.
Diamonds are somewhat like people. Each
individual has light and yet
some shine it in a low frequency while others
shine it for the world to
see. As with any progress, there is a price to
be paid, whether it is
study or work or self discipline, and we even
have the expression that
an individual may be a "diamond in the rough".
We recognize that
underneath that which glitters is that which is
most important. That is
the source of the light. We speak of a person
"glowing" when he or she
is in love or a soon to be mother's glow. It is
the spirit within
soaring and taking wing.

Diamonds are often given as a gift to show that
someone is special or to
become a symbol of someone's love. A gift given
from the spirit of a
person is far brighter in its light then any
symbol. To carry the
symbolism further, we can think of the children
of the world as the
carriers of the light but often when they
unselfconsciously share their
light we misread it. We often trap them in the
normalcy of society's
codes. Seldom are they given a diamond for it is
obvious that they are
usually too young to take care of it and it is
too valuable to chance
its loss. We need to share the light within with
our children and teach
them how to also share their light. It is truly
difficult to encourage
the growth of light within the young. It takes
patience and kindness as
well as opportunity.
We all have brilliant light tucked away inside
our shells. We often
sense there is more of us that is not always
shone. Why are we afraid
of our own brilliance? Some might imagine that
we could capture that
brilliance and place it on a finger or in a
necklace, but those are only
ornaments, no matter how beautiful or how rare
the stone might be. When
you think of diamonds and what they represent,
think of your brilliance
within and think of what it represents.
