Reason this page exists :
I have put this page up as no information to ones entitlement to such things is broadcast. In fact it appears to be kept secret (except to pensioners). So if you are old, blind or disabled pester your local council for your pass. It's not charity, it's yours by right!
I have also, unashamedly, reproduced the picture and map from the information leaflet, just to round off the page and complete the information. It took me almost 2 years to discover I was entitled to one of these passes.

GOOD NEWS FOR PENSIONERS OUTSIDE LONDON:

From June 2001, ALL local authorities (or Passenger Transport Executives in metropolitan areas) MUST provide a free pass allowing you at least half-price bus fares in their area. Other local travel schemes to help you get out and about may also be on offer.
For more information about which schemes are available in your area you should contact your local council or Passenger Transport Executive. You can find the address and phone number in the phone book under 'Local Government'.

If you live ib Wales, your local council must provide a free bus pass which will guarantee pensioners and people with disabilities free travel on local buses.
