Discover Yourself . . . in Body.
Will-power Boosters
When trying to take care of your body with diets and the like, just about everyone still tracks down those little treats that are banned. Here are a few tips to help NOT seek them out.
  • If you've got a garage or shed, store the family's biscuits or crisps there. Having to wade out there on a dark, wet evening in your nightie might make you think twice.

  • If the evening drags and you want to eat, have a long scented bath instead, then do your nails. You'll feel good, look good and it'll make you sleep better.

  • If you're tired and can't face heading down to the gym, try doing something active that will boost your circulation. Exercising for just 10 minutes gives you up to two hours extra energy.

  • Keep a pair of slacks/trousers that feel tight on you. As you lose weight, they'll become looser, not only on your waist and stomach, but on your bottom and thighs too. It will show how well you are doing on your diet and how the inches are falling off.

  • Keep a note of all your vital statistics. That way, if your weight loss stabilises, you'll still be able to see how well your exercise peogramme is going by keeping tabs on the inches.

  • If there's a celebrity whose body you admire, pin her picture up on the fridge or bathroom wall. When you're feeling weak, say to yourself; "I'm going to look like her."

  • The house always needs something doing and cleaning is therapeutic. It stops you reaching for the biscuits and makes you feel saintly afterwards. If you do lapse at least you'll have burned a lot of energy.

  • If it's your birthday or anniversary, hint to your man that you would really like some beautiful flowers instead of fattening chocolates or champagne. You'll certainly feel so much better for it.

  • Every time you don't buy chocolate or snacks, put the money in a special tin. You'll see how much money you were wasting and you'll be able to treat yourself to some fabulous make-up.

  • Choose dancing rather than going to the cinema for a night out. Instead of sitting and munching popcorn, you could be burning 300 calories an hour.

  • As you lose weight, take in your clothes or wear a belt. Not only will people notice your new figure, but they'll comment on your new style, and this will boost your will-power.

  • Give you 'fat' clothes away. If you don't have anything to wear when you gain weight, you might think twice about throwing in the towel.

  • Always stick to your regular meal pattern. Skipping meals will lead to low blood sugar and low, negatve feelings. This makes you more likely to end up relapsing.

  • Remember what you're getting out of this. Keep a diary and when you go out for a meal write down 'what I ate' then 'what I wish i'd eaten'. Follow this up with 'how I felt'. When you've stuck to your diet and skipped pudding, you can note down that you felt good. Look at it each time you're tempted or you feel down, and feel much more positive.
