CARAVAN ACROSS TEXAS

Periodically birds, in need of a new home, need a way across Texas.  During the summer months, when the temperatures soar above 90 degrees, and during the winter when many airports are iced in, airlines will not transport exotic birds.  This is becoming more important with the possibility of new guidelines and stricter restraints and regulations on the airports and the airlines.

Many of these birds cannot wait to be moved due to emergencies or family situations.  The need to be moved NOW -- not when the temperature is higher or lower; not when the airlines say, "OK." A consciences group of individuals is needed to provide transportation and temporary housing and to relay these winged wonders to the next member of the "Wagon Train" when the time arises. It is requested that you have knowledge regarding bird care and be able to provide feed and suitable housing for overnight.  You may also be asked to travel from one location to another to pick up and/or deliver a bird.  You must be willing to sign a hand receipt for the bird and then deliver the bird and the hand receipt to the next member of the "Wagon Train."  You must be willing to accept total responsibility for the bird, including its total cash value and, if necessary, while under your care, medical expenses and treatment. You will be required to give at least two references and have your personal vet or animal care specialist name, address and phone number on file with the Caravan Across Texas program.
