Mardi Gras Harlequin

The Harlequins Mystic Society entertained guests at its 45th Annual Ball at Fort Whiting Auditorium.  Mr. & Mrs. Harlequin, pictured with the Society's Emblem, lead the traditional "Champagne" Ball. Guests were entertained with lavish refreshments and danced the night away to Bob Schultz's "Big Band" Sound.

Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Stallworth lead the Les Bon Vivants 38th Annual Ball presented at the Athelstan Club where their guests were lavishly entertained.  Mrs. Stallworth's fitted gown featured a gold and burgundy lace bodice with an Elizabethan silk crepe skirt.

Belles and Beaux Mystic Society presented its 41st Annual BAll at Fort Whiting Auditorium. King Greg and Queen Linda lead the Ball and the members "royaly" entertained their guests with fabulous music and an elaborate array of refreshments.

La Luna Mardi Gras Emblem & 1998 Card

La Luna Servante presented its 49th Annual Ball, "Mobile, An All America City," at the Mobile Civic Center, Saturday Evening, January 31, 1998. La Luna entertained some 2,850 guests a glittering and lively Tableaux Production, dancing to two live bands in the main Ballroom, Mike Barnes and the "Rhythm Method" in the small Ballroom and with lavish refreshments in their ten hospitality suites.

The 1998 Mobile Carnival Parade Season was launched Saturday, January 24th when "Krewe de la Dauphine"
presented
"Blast From the Past"

Elvis the Pelvis,
the King of Rock 'N Roll,
wearing a jewel encrusted white jumpsuit, and looking sharp in silver shades, was the Grand Marshall of Saturday's 10 Unit Parade.
Approximately 40,000 Revelers jammed the island for their first taste of Mardi Gras "Moon Pie"Madness, colorful Beads, assorted candy and trinkets.

King Carey and Queen Jackie are pictured tossing "treasured bounty" to the eager crowd gathered for the "Island Mystics" 1998 Parade at Dauphin Island Saturday afternoon, January 31st.
